Burn Severity is based on the Burned Area Reflectance Classification (BARC) provided by the Remote Sensing Application Center (RSAC) along with field verification by the BAER team.Tres Lagunas FireBAERBurn Severity<DIV STYLE="text-align:Left;"><DIV><DIV><P><SPAN>A BARC image was provided by RSAC based on a Landsat 8 Image from 2013/06/06. The initial image was found to underrepresent the high and moderate burn severity.</SPAN></P><P><SPAN>The initial thresholds were: 0-57 (Unchanged), 58-108 (Low), 109-159 (Moderate), and 160-255 (High). </SPAN></P><P><SPAN>These values were tweaked to increase the range for the High severity. The final thresholds were: 0-57 (Unchanged), 58-108 (Low), 109-144 (Moderate), 145-255 (High).</SPAN></P><P><SPAN>In addition the BARC image was found to under-represent the moderate severity in the drainages about the Holy Ghost Creek. These drainages were then manually changed by painting in some strips of Moderate Severity.
